Our corporate volunteer program is up and running, launched by a volunteer project coordinated by Leadership Bend and the Deschutes Brewery. It was amazing to see Deschutes Brewery's spirit of volunteerism as their team of volunteers reworked the Healing Reins Sensory Integration Trail.

The trail opens up endless lesson opportunities for Healing Reins riders with sensory perception challenges. With the safety improvements and the creative additions that the team thought up, riders are having fun and learning new skills while on the trail. The model that Leadership Bend created will help Volunteer Connect coordinate similar volunteering projects engaging corporations and non-profits in the future.

  • 87% of employees at companies with a cause program (non-profit) feel a strong sense of loyalty to their employer (1999 Cone/Roper Report)
  • Similarly, the majority of Americans (your customers) consider a company’s commitment to a social issue when making a number of important decisions.
For example:
  • 85% take that commitment into consideration when deciding which companies they want to see doing business in their local community
  • 74% when deciding which products and services to recommend to other people
  • 70% when deciding which stocks or mutual funds to invest in (2004 Cone/Roper Report)
Employee volunteering can also benefit businesses through:

  • Reinforcing teamwork and breaking down barriers
  • Adding an extra dimension of sharing, caring and creating sense of community among employees
  • Quality time for families through learning opportunities and positive role modeling for children
  • Skill development in leadership, problem-solving, public speaking and improved organizational skills
