Kelly Herman
Board President
Kelly is a public relations consultant and business coach. In California, she consulted with companies and organizations to shape and implement their public relations campaigns – including Community Impact, which is now Hands On Bay Area. She is a member of the board of Bend’s Friends with Flowers. Kelly’s children thrive on service learning and they, along with Kelly's husband, are active community volunteers.
Wendy Winchel
Board Secretary
Wendy is principal of the Westside Village Magnet School, in the Bend/La Pine School District. She has been a school administrator for four years, following sixteen years of classroom teaching. She encourages volunteering in the schools and student involvement in service-learning. Wendy is a strong advocate for the ethic of volunteering and giving back to the community.
Ed Onimus
Board Treasurer
Ed is Accounting Manager at Eagle Crest and a Redmond City Councilor. He also serves on the boards of Healing Reins and Leadership Redmond, and he is on the steering committee of the tri-county Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness. Ed served for twenty years as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He is passionate about volunteerism and has promoted the adoption of the 2010 Year of the Volunteer resolution by communities throughout Central Oregon.
Lin Gardner
Board Member
Lin Gardner is the Community Development Coordinator for Oregon's Department of Human Services, serving Crook and Deschutes County. She has been a member and served as chair for NOVA, the Network of Volunteer Administrators, since 1993. Lin has volunteered for and served on various boards throughout Central Oregon. Before relocating to Bend from Bloomington, Indiana, she served on the Bloomington City Council, mentored victims/survivors of domestic violence and volunteered as an environmental advocate.
Rebecca Gundzik
Board Member
Rebecca Gundzik is an attorney with experience in service-learning, including organizing and leading a service-learning program at Seven Peaks School in Bend. She was also an attorney-educator for Break the Cycle, a group which educates teens about dating and domestic violence. Currently, she is chair of the social action committee at Temple Beth Tikvah in Bend. She is also a member of the board of Bethlehem Inn, the region's largest homeless shelter. Rebecca received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and her juris doctor degree from University of Southern California. She is a member of the California and Oregon bar associations, and specializes in litigation and appellate work.
Therese Helton
Board Member
Therese is a Community Development and Volunteer Coordinator with the Oregon Department of Human Services for Jefferson County and Warm Springs. Before moving to Central Oregon, Therese worked for a Los Angeles social services agency promoting independence and self-sufficiency. She volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters and serves on the advisory boards for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Commission for Children and Families in Jefferson County. She recently published her first inspirational book of verses. Therese holds a BA degree in organizational management from the Master's College in Southern California.
Sarah Holtzclaw
Board Member
Sarah is Director of Asset Development for the Partnership to End Poverty. She has twenty years of experience in branding, marketing, advertising, and project management, having worked at a local advertising agency and as Director of Marketing for an international quick-service restaurant chain. Sarah serves as a session member (leadership/board member) for First Presbyterian Church of Bend. She has a BA from Lewis and Clark College and an MBA from Portland State University.
Kristy Krugh
Board Member
Currently serving in resource development in the health field, Kristy has wide experience in volunteer management, fund development, coaching, and systems design and implementation.
Peggy Lovegren
Board Member
Peggy is the Central Oregon Regional Manager for Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington, "building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place." She is committed to matching service-learning students and volunteers with positions they feel passionate and excited about. She has volunteered and worked with PTA, church youth, homeless youth programs, juvenile detention, and as a police officer and community service officer with the Seattle Police Department. She has a BA in Society and Justice from the University of Washington, and graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy in Washington.
Tracey Plath
Board Member
Tracey Plath is Vice President and Business Liaison Officer at Bank of the Cascades. She is responsible for cross-company collaboration, enhancing internal communications and process improvements for the benefit of those working with BOTC customers. She plays a key role as a liaison between BOTC technology groups and bank personnel, drawing on systems expertise and bank management experience to ensure optimal service to customers. Tracey has over 30 years' financial industry background that includes project and business leadership, working with clients in a variety of cultures and businesses in the United States and overseas. She also possesses extensive experience in communications, including training design, development and delivery.
